While the disaster that eliminated all but avian dinosaurs (birds) from planet earth presents the possibility that man could be wiped off the planet earth as well by a similar world wide disaster. The proposal to mitigate this possibility is colonization of another planet such as Mars or the moon of another planet.

A more realistic proposal for survival, however, might be what may have allowed avian dinosaurs to survive. That innovation might be flight capsules or submarines or even combonation land, air and sea vehicles designed for individuals and groups to be independent and self-sustaining and able to cope indefinitely with any environmental change.
