Section 3 Family and friendsEdit

Matriarchs and patriarchs. Biographical records of individual lives and the socio-economic context of those lives. Focuses on past figures. (Tries not to publish biographies – for reasons of privacy – until twenty-five** years after a person’s death, though collecting information should start as soon as possible.)

Section 4 Between countries / regionsEdit

History of a relationship – between the host and the source countries.

ExamplesEdit

SECTION 1: The old days!Edit

1. The beginnings of Peruvian civilisation 2,900 BC.Edit

See http://academia.wikia.com/wiki/Caral The final part needs tidying up. Have a look at other Caral videos / articles on YouTube and other sites. Choose the best for you and copy into our Caral document.

2. The spread of Quechua language and culture 500 BC to 2000 ADEdit

In preparation. For preview see http://arts.brunel.ac.uk/gate/entertext/2_2_pdfs/goulder_2.pdf Wait for a better formated version.

SECTION 2: Areas from where a family has movedEdit

The following section is specific to the area from where a family has moved. In this case Arequipa in Southern Peru. Add other cities or departments.

Peru and Arequipa though musicEdit

Music can be the most evocative, fluid and supportive of the media. Arequipa / Peru: some good old-fashioned music (Add some more-contemporary clips) See http://academia.wikia.com/wiki/Arequipa_Peru:_nostalgia_y_m%C3%BAsica Compare with the bel canto of Juan Diego Florez http://academia.wikia.com/wiki/Juan_Diego_Florez, the part Peruvian-inspired jazz of Andres Prado http://academia.wikia.com/wiki/080927APBPJQ and the coastal Afro-Peruvian music of Manos Negras ~ http://academia.wikia.com/wiki/Manos_Negras.

SECTION 3: Diasporic family historyEdit

Patriarch of the family. This links academic history with family history. Always important but more so in the case of diasporas.

Example: Juan de Dios MeloEdit

~ See http://academia.wikia.com/wiki/080927JDM

SECTION 4: History of a relationship – between the host and the source countriesEdit

Sweden and Peru (Arequipa)Edit

See http://academia.wikia.com/wiki/080906SWE

Britain and PeruEdit

Level 1 Edit

Detail of level Edit

Level 1. General interest - no prior specialist knowledge.

ThemeEdit

Regional or departmental focus.

For whomEdit

This guide for tutors (you of course can be your own tutor and take the course direct) is aimed initially for tutors in Saturday schools, community centres, extra-curricular secondary school projects, cultural associations and other study groups.

ObservationsEdit

Although its academic level aims to be of general interest and easy access its level of focus can be highly specialist[1] In some countries of Europe customised parental language lessons are given in the state schools. This is done to encourage literacy in "immigrant" parental languages - with a long term view that the country's export industry, for example, will benefit from a pool of global language speakers.

  1. Our initial guide dealt with one Peruvian Department: Arequipa

DisseminationEdit

The tutor guides also contain material to aid you in developing tutor-guides for other departments, regions, provinces and towns. The guides are being put together by volunteers and Minkanews encourages its readers to participate by forming study groups or contributing individually – on any relevant theme – and sharing your experience with the rest of us.
